I built an open source, self-hosted browser service for Playwright applications that run many short tasks.
Starting a browser for every task costs time and CPU. Keeping one running indefinitely can lead to growing memory use and failures. BrowserThing reuses browsers between tasks, cleans up each session, and replaces browsers after a set number of sessions. Applications use normal Playwright code while browser workers run on separate machines, with capacity that teams can expand as needed.
I built this open source project to make Polish place names and coordinates easy for developers to use.
The project turns Poland’s official place register into simple downloads of cities, villages, and other localities, with their administrative areas and coordinates. Developers can explore the map, filter places, and choose the fields they need for location search, address forms, and maps in their own apps.
